REDpreneur Look Back 2021

17
On February 25th, 2021 we had a very successful Kick-Off Session of the REDpreneur Training Academy. In total 47 persons joined the online Kick-Off session from all over the world: Rwanda, Nigeria, United States, Switzerland, Kyrgyzstan, Albania, Montenegro, Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia, North Macedonia, Bulgaria and Austria.
Thereafter, weekly webinars with homework in between and Town Halls were carried
out. Participants developed fundamental skills and concepts in the field of impact enterprise. Joint focus on selected business cases through peer-to-peer learning allowed participants to immerse in an applied training environment. Beside exploring and developing own entrepreneurial skills, the role of the Learners in the Training Academy was to support the Venture teams to develop their Business and Financial plans based on a pre-defined template.
A stepwise development of a business plan in the form of a 10 Slide deck and a financial plan, assessed the status quo of the venture ideas.12 weeks later the participants had been working in 10 working groups on 10 Venture Ideas resulting in in a 3-minute pitch of each Venture Idea during an online Pithing Session on the 19th of May 2021. A female jury of three representatives from the target region (ADA Albania, IFRC Europe Region and Impact Hub Vienna) were invited to give Feedback on the pitches and work done so far.

The Kick-Off of the Master Class started with an online Workshop (29th June – 1st of July 2021) for participants ready to work on more in-depth knowledge to fine-tune their Financial and Business plans. We were glad to continue the work with Venture teams and Learners from our Red Cross partner Societies, and also very excited to welcome new CSO, Start- Ups and Learners. A mix of lectures and group work and discussions were used during the Workshop. Learned theory were applying to the respective venture ideas and through individual and peer work on specific topics as well as case studies and presentations. In addition, external experts were invited to present and have conversations with the group. An evaluation of the business cases development and status of venture teams were undertaken by an initial diagnostic at the beginning of the Master Class. In addition, coaching capacities were created through the use of learners as coaches on specific topics (in depth) to the ventures within the Master Class. Each learner had at least two coaching sessions and a Coach Network was created. During the summer, online formats (webinars, one2one venture-learner coachings, collective coaching sessions, townhall) were implemented and monitored as planned and the uptake and observed results as well as engagement was very good. Mid November, REDpreneur had its closing Workshop in Vienna including an hybrid closing and pitching event.

REDpreneurs of 2021

Below we are glad to share some feedback from our REDpreneur Alumnis:
“The REDpreneur program was a huge leap forward in how we think of and look at our national society’s sustainable financial model. With the knowledge gained from the program, we at the Lebanese Red Cross, Economic Security Department, are currently considering ways of incorporating a business model approach in our programming. Humanitarian services could and should consider a profit generating business model for the sustainability of their programming and the REDpreneur program is a live proof of how this works.”

It is always difficult to put a vague idea into practice. The REDpreneur project not only provided the right tools, but also placed experts on our side in order to get our venture idea ready for piloting. The mix of theoretical lessons and practical working on our own venture was very useful and exciting.”
“Participation in the Redpreneur gave us the opportunity to look at our activities from the other side, thanks to which we were able to open new directions for the development of our enterprise. Also, this is a great opportunity to gain new knowledge and exchange experiences with colleagues from other countries! Thank you for the excellent organization of such a cool event, especially considering all the inconvenience the pandemic has caused.”
